Our Story
After serving as missionaries in Asia for close to four years, Angelo, Chanette, and their young family returned to the US. The increasing government restrictions in the country they were serving greatly hindered effective ministry. Packing up, Angelo and his family returned to their sending church, Community Bible Church in Vallejo, CA.
The Elders of CBC prayed with Angelo to ask God for direction for the next chapter of ministry. Upon speaking with like-minded pastors, Angelo and his wife started to seriously pray for North County San Diego as their next destination of gospel work. After consulting with the elders of CBC, Angelo sent out invitations to other trusted brothers and sisters in the church that were looking to serve God in this new pioneer work. The invited group began meeting and praying regularly to determine if this church plant was truly God’s will for them. After a period of several months, a total of six families and two single men committed to moving down to Oceanside to follow God’s call there.
God began to move mightily and quickly once the group committed themselves to Him. All who owned houses sold them, they began to search for jobs in the area, and prepared to move themselves and their families down the coast to answer God’s call to ministry. God worked wondrously by allowing each of the committed families to move down in a reasonable timeframe, with housing and jobs ready for them. Some were given opportunities to work remotely for the same companies, others found work in new jobs and fields, but God provided for each and every one. As Jesus promised in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.” Those who committed to following God in this way were provided for to do this work.
Many families left behind relatives, close friends, good brothers and sisters to follow God’s call to Oceanside. For some, it was their first time leaving the area and moving to a completely new place. God worked in strengthening the hearts of those who were determined to move down to plant a church. The first meeting of RBC was held in the living room of one of the members, where everyone crammed in and worshipped joyfully. Mere weeks after moving down, a local school heard about what was going on and offered their facilities for use on Sundays.
God provided a meeting place that was large enough to house the members and guests! The first official service was on November 22, 2015 and was held at the school. Though we have moved several times, the church is in awe of God’s faithful provision time and time again.
God has used the ministry of RBC to bring many souls to repentance of which many of whom are now attending regularly as members. RBC’s desire remains the same. To bring glory to Christ by making disciples who worship, love, and serve Him. Christ is indeed building His church (Mat. 16:18).
